Coloring a Fruit Candle

To make your fruit candle more vibrant, choose a refreshing color and color it in.
Alcohol inks allow you to express the ripeness and colorfulness of the fruit.
Create a vibrant fruity candle by adding a fragrance that reminds you of the scent of fresh fruit.

Need to Prepare

Supplies | Unscented fruit candle, Alcohol Ink (Red Pepper, Watermelon, Cranberry, Salmon, Sunset Orange, Limeade, Botanical, Espresso), Alcohol Blending Solution, Alcohol Ink Mini Round Application Tool, Alcohol Blending Pen, Alcohol Ink Brushes & Mister Set, Alcohol Ink Brushes & Mister Set, Clear Cover + Craft Mini Pie Box, Kraft Scent Record Label (wide), Ivory Decorative Sheet, Disposable Gloves

Prepare Coloring Tools

Prepare a palette of alcohol ink in the desired color to match your unpainted fruit candle.

(In the photo, I used Alcohol Inks in Red Pepper, Watermelon, Cranberry, Salmon, and Sunset Orange.
Using multiple colors instead of just one can make the colors look more realistic.)

Coloring

As for the coloring order, we recommend starting with light colors and working your way to darker colors.
Alcohol Ink dries quickly, but it can peel if you touch it before the coloring is completely dry, so you should take your time and paint a little at a time. Color around bends or with whatever tool you're comfortable with.
For example, use a brush or pen to draw lines and a circular application tool to color surfaces.

(To make the apple taps look more realistic, I mixed a small amount of Botanical and Espresso colors and
painted them on with a brush).

Using the Circular Application Tool

When using the Alcohol Ink Mini Round Application Tool, apply a moderate amount of ink to the sponge and adjust
the ink on a blank palette before stamping it on the candle surface.

(If you stamp on the surface of the candle with too much Alcohol Ink, it will smudge and smear the darker colors
because the ink sets quickly. It's best to use alcohol ink by building up the color gradually).

Alcohol Ink Blending Pen

A pen that uses alcohol ink can be lightened with an Alcohol Blending Solution.
It's easy to draw lines and is great for fine work. You can use it to make dots or do detailed work.

Alcohol Ink Brush

You can apply Alcohol Ink as easily as paint.
You can also flick the brush to express dots, which is great for drawing fine lines.

Alcohol Ink Spray

Alcohol Inks and Alcohol Blending Solutions are great for creating a spray-on, dotty look.

Finishing

Line a Clear Cover+Craft Mini Pie Box with Ivory Decorative Sheet and add a colored candle to finish.

In the photo, I've decorated it with a Kraft Scent Record Label (wide)
