Bitter Orange
Fresh, Orange, Leafy, Woody
Bitter Orange is a citrus oil with a tangy sweetness lying between sweet orange and grapefruit.
Unlike sweet oranges, which are commonly known for producing juice and being consumed as fruit, bitter oranges are not intended for consumption.
They are cultivated for perfumery purposes, obtaining essential oils from the flower, leaves, and fruit of the same tree.
Bitter Orange is primarily used as a top note in natural perfumery, closely resembling floral notes while retaining a citrusy aroma.
It's ideal for adding a lightly sweet and refreshing scent.
The characteristics of CW Bitter Orange Natural Essential Oil
Bitter orange, also known as Seville Orange or Bigarade, is cultivated in various regions with similar climates, such as Spain, Sicily, Morocco, southern United States, and South America. The bitter orange tree can yield at least 5-6 different essential oils with various names, including bitter orange essential oil (obtained by steam distillation or cold pressing of the fruit), petitgrain bigarade oil (steam distillation of the leaves), bitter orange leaf absolute (solvent extraction of the leaves), neroli bigarade oil (steam distillation of the flowers), and orange blossom absolute (solvent extraction of the flowers).
