The characteristics of CW Agarwood Natural Essential Oil
The high cost of Agarwood is due to its extremely low yield from the tree, the labor-intensive extraction process, and the fact that it takes decades for the tree to produce the oil. Another reason is that Agarwood is an endangered species protected by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). The species of Aquilaria from which Agarwood is collected, about 15 species, are native to Southeast Asia. The oil in the tree is formed as a response to an external attack by mold or bacteria. The tree releases fragrant oil to protect itself when infected by parasites or fungi, and the older the tree, the higher the resin content and the more it matures like wine. After a careful and long grinding process to avoid damaging the resin in the wood, the wood chips are steam distilled to obtain the finest natural raw material. CW uses Agarwood from Laos, which is a high-quality Agarwood with an extremely rich scent, almost butter-like in form at room temperature.
