Aetoxylon "White Oud" Oil
Woody, Oud, Smoky, Leathery
Lavandin oil is an essential oil obtained from the natural hybrid of Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and Spike Lavender (Lavandula latifolia). While similar to lavender in scent, it is more vivid and refreshing, with a noticeable camphoraceous freshness. This gives it a herbal, energetic character, making it suitable for those who prefer a stronger aromatic profile than lavender.
Lavandin is cultivated extensively in France and Spain, producing a higher yield than lavender and therefore offering a more economical price point. For this reason, it is widely used in aromatherapy, soaps, detergents, air fresheners, and other everyday products, serving as a popular alternative to lavender.
The distilled oil is clear in color, carrying a fresh herbal note blended with slight spiciness and woody undertones. Compared to lavender, its calming effect is somewhat milder, but it excels in freshness and antimicrobial properties, making it well-suited for air-purifying or cleansing applications.
Though lavender and lavandin differ in species and composition, both are beloved essential oils. Lavender is valued for its delicate floral-herbal aroma in fine perfumery and therapeutic use, while lavandin is appreciated for its stronger, more pronounced scent and affordable price, lending itself to a wide range of everyday products.
