Patchouli Woody, Mossy, Earthy, Balsamic
Patchouli oil is a highly valued ingredient in perfumery due to its long-lasting fragrance. It has a complex scent that combines warm, deep woodiness, spiciness, moss, earthy, and green notes. It blends well with various accords such as Chypre accord (bergamot-jasmine-patchouli & moss), modern sugar-sweet-patchouli accord, and rose-patchouli accord. The scent develops into a deep, sweet aroma like well-aged wine over time.
The characteristics of CW Patchouli Natural Essential Oil Patchouli essential oil is produced by steam distilling the dried leaves of Pogostemon Cablin, which is native to Indonesia. The freshly produced oil is a viscous oil with a reddish-brown color, having a smoky woody, balsamic scent with a hint of herbal aroma. Major production areas include Indonesia and China, with CW sourcing its oil from Indonesia. It is well known that in the early 19th century, patchouli leaves were used to protect cashmere wool fabric imported to Europe from insects during long-distance transport. The faint scent of patchouli on the fabric was considered proof that the material was genuinely imported from the East. Patchouli oil is one of the most long-lasting natural fixatives.
