Black Pepper
Warm, Spicy, Herbal, Peppery
Black pepper and pink pepper are among the trendiest spicy notes in modern perfumery.
Both have a sparkling and fresh aroma rather than the typical spicy scent of pepper, making them blend very well with fruity, citrus, and aromatic notes.
Black pepper is often used in men's fragrances, while pink pepper tends to be preferred in women's perfumes.
Black pepper was recorded to be used at its highest concentration of 6% in "Extreme Polo Sport" (Ralph Lauren, 1998), a fragrance that has been discontinued,
and 1.1% in "Guerlain Homme" (Guerlain, 2008) for men, and 0.2% in "Contradiction" (Calvin Klein, 1997) for women,
providing a more sparkling and tingling effect than the peppery notes of pink pepper.
Characteristics of CW Black Pepper Natural Essential Oil
Black pepper, originating from Goa, India, is obtained by steam distilling the seeds of Piper Nigrum L. (Piperaceae) to yield about 1-2.6% of essential oil. It is widely used as a spice, and India, Malaysia, and Indonesia are the major producing countries. The fruit, dried before maturity, is called pepper or black pepper, and it is wrinkled on the outside and black in color.
